The Home Stretch

If history repeats itself, I should have a baby tonight. Jacob and Adam were both born on Sunday mornings after having gone into labor on a Saturday night. This is my last weekend as a mother of two so this is our last chance. I wouldn't be against it, the labor ward is empty on Sundays, but I don't feel anything and I haven't dropped yet, so I think three is staying put. But just in case I don't have the opportunity again, here are my thoughts on the past nine months.....

Honestly, I still can't believe we are having a third baby. It just seems weird still. There was a time, eight years ago, when we thought we wouldn't have one baby let alone three. My first two pregnancies were hard. There was the every other day blood testing, hormone supplementations, and the biweekly miscarriage scares and dead baby checks. I didn't have any of that this time. My doctor says my body must have finally just "got it". Gee, would have been nice if it could have gotten it the first time, but I digress. Anyway, aside from the twenty weeks of morning sickness, this pregnancy has been absolutely uneventful. No emergency room visits, no preterm labor, nothing. You know, I have only been to my doctor's office for scheduled appointments, no "something's wrong" fit ins this time. It almost makes me want to have another just because now I know THIS is what it's supposed to be like and it's really not that bad...but not too much.

I still feel unsure about adding another baby to the family. I just don't feel like a mom to three, two fits me like a glove, but we'll manage. I do feel blessed to have been given this opportunity to have an easy pregnancy and a surprise baby, it's like a gift, really....a nine month long gift, but a gift nonetheless. In less than a week (or tomorrow) I will find out who we have been waiting for all this time, our little surprise who just had to come live with us..... poor thing, doesn't know what it's in for.

I hope everything goes well with the delivery! I am sending you good thoughts and wishes!! When I was prego w/ the twins I just couldn't imagine myself as a mother of three or really four I guess you could say. It was a very big adjustment but the smile those twins put on my face everyday with their crazy jokes is like nothing else. It's been a long road but I am finally getting the hang of things! I can't wait for the day when you post It's a_____!! Good luck!

I'm so excited for you! You are entitled to be nervous, but I don't have to be! So I'll be giddy and happy, ok?!? :) I hope you can rest well. I know how hard it is to sleep near the end.

My thoughts and prayers are with you! I can't wait to see who joins your family (I have an opinion on gender, but I'll keep it to myself). It won't be much longer until you hold your new little one in your arms. I think that's the point you'll feel like a mom of three :)

History isn't doing a very good job of repeating itself up north here. I hope it kinder to you!

I don't think there is such thing as an easy pregnancy (like with labor, people forget things - the last month, for example. ;) ), but I'm so happy to read that you had much more stress-free pregnancy this time. After all of that, it was time for you to experience "normal." I'm hoping your delivery is similarly uneventful!!

I keep checking blogs of people due at the same time as us, eager to see who has their baby. I'm wishing others will go first so I can read their stories before I face my own (I'm a chicken like that).

Good luck!!

I'm excited for you! Both my births were induced and the night before each I freaked out a little about adding to our family. But 3 is a great number, and for us it is just right.

I hope everything goes smoothly, and I can't wait to hear!

Good luck with the waiting.

I, too, thought it was my lot in life to be the mother of only two girls. Then The Boy came along. It's all good. I promise. He completes our family in a way I never dreamed!

Did history repeat itself? :D

If not, you don't have long anyways. I can't wait to here!

I'm looking forward to finding out all about your newest addition! Hope you're either holding that lil one or getting some much needed rest while you continue to wait!

I've heard that when you add a third child you have to move from a man-on-man to a zone defense.

I know you'll have just a FEW other things to do, but update when you can so we know how you are...
